The Illinois Representative, Abraham Lincoln, has been elected as the 16th president of the United States. This comes as an unfortunate selection for us southerners. Our votes were mostly with John C. Breckenridge. He seemed to have a better view of southern issues, as he was the southern Democratic candidate. His pro-slavery platform won him 72 votes from mostly the deep southern states. With Lincoln comes a very pro-abolitionist viewpoint that I believe several of our neighbors will disagree with.
We now have this "ourang-outang" ruling our country with his terrible looking facade. He's a "horrid looking wench". He says he will leave the decision of slavery up to the individual state, but how long can that be expected to last? Soon, Lincoln will replace our very own livelihood. This must be stopped and stopped soon. We need to rise up against this abomination!
Are you with me Carolina?

I agree that President Lincoln needs to act on the issue of slavery rather than leaving it up to the states. However, the true abomination here is slavery, not the replaced livelihood that you and your readers fear!
ReplyDeleteSlavery is currently the greatest offense being committed in this country and should be removed with haste. Although you may fear for change in your way of life, this must be weighed against the moral sins of slavery.
